- [Special Projects 2025-26](https://cambridgeearlymusicconsort.org/projects/special-projects-2025-2026/): MADRIGALS AND CACCIA FROM THE TRECENTO The 14th century in Italy witnessed the evolution of a poetic and musical culture distinct from that of France and England, with the first examples of polyphony in the vernacular, adopting forms such as the madrigal, the caccia and the ballata. Members of CEMC have been working on a programme bringing together examples from the Rossi, Panchiatichi and Squarcialupi manuscripts alongside monophonic laude and motets by Ciconia. - [Special Projects 2024-25](https://cambridgeearlymusicconsort.org/projects/projects-special-projects-2024-2025/): MISSA CAPUT The anonymous English mass ‘Caput’ was one of the most influential polyphonic compositions of the 15th century. Once thought to be by Guillaume Dufay, the mass now languishes in the category of ‘Anon’ and is more discussed than performed. - [Early English Church Music](https://cambridgeearlymusicconsort.org/projects/eecm/): Recording In 2023 CEMC embarked on a collaborative research project with Early English Church Music with the aim of making available non-commercial recordings from the 66 volumes of published editions by British composers from the Norman Conquest to the Commonwealth. The first instalment of this series was recorded at St Catharine’s College (University of Cambridge) in December 2023, comprising a collection of 15th century settings of the Sanctus and Agnus Dei (volume 47). More recently CEMC has recorded settings of the Gloria and Credo from volume 55.

- [Home](https://cambridgeearlymusicconsort.org/): THE CAMBRIDGE EARLY MUSIC CONSORT (CEMC) was founded in 2022 by Matthew Gouldstone and Edward Wickham. The principal ambition of the ensemble is to engage Cambridge University’s finest singers in vocal repertoire pre-1530 which they might not otherwise have encountered through their college choirs. In that respect, CEMC complements and builds upon the training that Cambridge choral scholars already receive, introducing students to a wide variety of approaches; from specific historic performance practices to the fundamentals of research, rehearsal and presentation.
